How to Play Like a Pro in a Game of Baccarat?

There are some casino games that would require you to use a set strategy to help you win. But, there are also some that are perfect for everyone- whether you are just a casual player that plays games in an online casino or you’re a professional that seeks out the best games possible.

One of the games that may be of particular interest to you is Baccarat. You might like this game simply because there is no strategy that is required to play it. All you need to know is how the game is played, the rules, and that is basically it.

In today’s article, I will talk about ways you can play a game of baccarat like a professional.

The Basics

If you are going to play Baccarat in a land-based casino, you will typically find that it is held on a huge table that can house up to 14 players. If you are playing online, the premise might still be the same, albeit you can play the game with less than 14 players.

The game is played using a standard 52-card deck. Although the numerical values of cards are as is, the value of the face cards such as the King, Queen, and Jack all amount to 0. The ace cards have a value of only 1.

The premise of the game is that your hand has to be closest (or on) the number 9. Once you are given your respective cards, the total value of that would be subtracted by 10. So for example, if the total value of your cards is 15, then the actual value of your hand is 5.

How It’s Played

When you are dealt some cards, you actually do not get to touch the cards at first. You must first tell the dealer who you think would win. Is it you (the player)? The Banker? Or is it a tie?

All of the cards would then be shuffled and would then be stuffed inside the shoe. The last 16 remaining cards will be known as the cut-card.

You will then place a wager and you will get two cards as a result. The banker also gets his duo of cards too.

The dealer will then look at your cards and if it totals anywhere between 6-9, you will not be given an additional card. If it is lower than that value, you will be given an additional one.

In addition, if the dealer’s hand totals 7, 8, or 9, they will not be given another card. Once everything is settled, the cards will be added up again and the winner will be announced shortly after.

When Placing Bets

As I’ve said earlier, the player will be given a chance to say who will win. If you’ve guessed that the banker will win and they indeed have the winning hand, you will give the banker a 5% commission and you will be given a handsome split.

If you’ve guessed that your hand will win and you indeed have the winning cards, you will take all of the money.

Suppose that the result is a tie and you’ve correctly guessed that, you will be paid 8 to 1. Though keep in mind that the house edge on a tie is usually quite high at 14.36.
